This is Trump’s last chance to bait the judge into doing something rash that would help on appeal.
Only when Trump is the defendant would anyone consider penalizing over a dozen violations that are each individually bad enough to get normal people jailed for contempt of court "rash".
Enough with the absurd levels of overcautiousness at the expense of seeking anything that even remotely resembles justice already!
Every single thing you say is true.
However, he appointed SCOTUS justices who are looking for any excuse to overturn the ruling.
The stakes are too high to ignore the real politik.
He didn't appoint anyone to the NY state supreme court.
