Another reply as a public conversation starter: I find that most modern movies are too formulaic and predictable. What are your suggestions for movies that really aren't?
Nihil sub sole novum
It helps me to focus on the things a movie does right, even if other parts are lackluster. For example the Star Wars sequels were abysmal in terms of dialogue and plot development, but the music and choreography was amazing.
Modern ones ? Probably some A24 ones but they are just so and so and not something I would recommend as must watch or anything but they do tend to get not formulaic . Unpredictable ? I would need some time to think lol.
Saint Maud and Lamb were...interesting. Saint Maud I could actually watch again. Also, The Witch is in my top 10.
Oh yeah The Witch was good I Haven't watched the other two you mentioned .
