Why ? I kinda like my current hobbies I try shit from time to time but these are the ones I can enjoy and if I can't enjoy something but just do it to just say I do that, isn't that working without pay ?
You said your hobbies were working out and reading. Those aren't hobbies that's just being a human being friend. Where's the passion?
No one said anything about pay, forget that.
You added cycling. Are you a part of any local group for it? Long distance or mountain biking?
Edit: To the downvoters, the goal is for him to get out and meet other people that have the same hobby. If you want to make friends as an adult, this is practically the only way. If he doesn't want anything new than maybe a book club?
You're being downvoted for claiming that working out and reading are not hobbies, which is, quite frankly, bullshit.
To me that's just basic human maintenance, body & mind. That's fine though, to each their own. Maybe taking care of yourself should be a hobby!
Heh these young people don't realise what happens if you stop working out past a certain age.
For me the problematic thing here is the insinuation that having a distinct hobby specific passion is what makes us interesting as human beings, that somehow human connection is predicated on passion and carved out hobbies. Not all of us have energy or time or just general mental capacity or desire to take on a passion project or dive into a hobby. I have family, friends, dogs, work, boating, biking, dog rescue, cheese, these are all a part of what make me but nothing I want to join a club over or dedicate any more time to than I already do. Some days are just about living and being. I can still be fun and funny and compassionate and interesting to talk to without having to develop and showcase a specific passion. Anywho
No .I just like to cycle around there is no local group or anything around here and after I have moved and came back I have not yet started riding again and I don't think I will .
I do enjoy working out and reading I don't do those cause they are necessary I'm aldready lean I just do it cause I enjoy it .
