Is it just me or does the middle click wear out more quickly than the others? Always figured they use a worse switch because they think people use them less. My last two failed the same way.

Depends on the mouse. I've had both good and bad.

Does the entire scroll wheel go, or just the button functionality? The never happened to me with any of my mice.

I also use middle click a lot and it was only the button functionality. It didn't fully break but became very inconsistent. (Sometimes doesn't click, sometimes clicks twice in a row). Now I have to use ctrl click. Sucks for programs where middle click drag moves the view around.

Was it a Logitech mouse by any chance? The middle click has a tendency to wear out more Logitech mice than any other brand for me.

I have a cheap logitech mouse with a non working middle click, too

Spot on, G402 was the longest runner, but had issues on right and middle click. Steelseries rival didn't last long at all.

Most common mouse problem I have is that grime gets in the wheel and it acts up or seizes up. (Cleaning wheels is also a huge headache with newer mice.) Buttons rarely quit working. ...except on some of my Logitech mouses, sometimes the buttons just started going funky or died. My Microsoft wireless travel mouse has kept working for years. I have an Microsoft Intellimouse Optical from early 2000s that I still use with Raspberry Pi, no problems.

I have had a Logitech G600 and a Corsair Scimitar that have both had issues in the past. The G600 had the switch outright die and the scimitar developed inconsistent scrolling (also super stiff and hard to middle click anyway).

I do a lot of web browsing and RuneScape, which uses the middle mouse button to move the mouse and I tend to rebind the DPI buttons under the wheel to the middle mouse button to compensate.

G502 Hero is the true MVP.

I have a Steel Series Rival from more than a decade ago and its middle click still works lol

Yeah heard many good things, mine could've been a fluke.
