I think that @[email protected] or somebody else should know that pinging others is only effective when done in replies, not original posts. I completely missed this thread until I did a search for my own username.
Anyway, here are some sources:
Death Dealer: The Memoirs of the SS Kommandant at Auschwitz
Architect of Death at Auschwitz: A Biography of Rudolf Höss
Rudolf Höss: Villain, Scapegoat or Victim of Circumstance (eight‐page biography; good if you are short on time)
KL: A History of the Nazi Concentration Camps (not strictly about Höß, but discusses him quite a bit)
‘Und Sie hatten nie Gewissensbisse?’ Die Biografie von Rudolf Höß, Kommandant von Auschwitz, und die Frage seiner Verantwortung vor Gott und den Menschen
The film The Zone of Interest is also a good reenactment of Höß’s life as a camp commander and a settler‐colonist. I wouldn’t cite it like scientific research, but if you really want to get a feeling of how he lived during his career then I recommend watching it.
I feel stupid now
