I use the Hario size 02 filters with my v60 which I really like, but the only reliable and affordable source I’ve been able to find is from amazon.com. Does anyone have another source I can buy these from? I try to buy as little as possible from amazon, but these are something I still have to regularly buy from there.

I’m also open to alternative suggestions for filters if someone knows something else that works as well or better.

Depends on where you're located, but most coffee stores and cooking stores sell them here (if one doesn't have them, the next one will).

I'm able to get brown paper based ones that fit made by Melitta in some supermarkets too. But they are harder too find.

I agree. If OP lives near any roasters they should try there first. Even smaller roasting companies often sell equipment. For any Hario filters most supermarkets are out of the question, in my area it's mostly flat bottom and Melitta #2/ #4.

I’m in the u.s. unfortunately I have not been able to find them locally.

I'd be willing to bet the local coffee shops that have Hario filters bought them on Amazon themselves and sell them at a slight mark up. So either way you're going through Amazon.
