Burning plastic sends the waste into the air where it joins the water cycle. The matter isn't destroyed, it's just atomized and spread out. Properly sealed landfills ostensibly contain the damage, although we should recognize that landfill regulations are lax at best.
We already burn oil. I positing burning would fix micro plastic issue.
This is also not my domain so I am talking out of my ass mostly to get a convo going so maybe somebody competent can provide proper context.
Space elevator. Trash go up, gentle push towards your favorite star (except the sun), bye forever.
By the way, I know this isn't practical so a detailed response outlining the challenges is unnecessary.
Burning plastics create microplastics.
And we should also stop burning oil.
Yeah but deff should stop burning shot but that ain't happening today.
Microplastics issue is today.
My understanding that modern incinerators largely solved the pollution problem and recover energy.
Sounds like it would be better to burn waste plastic over gas or oil.
