Getting shot at doesn't cure brain worms. Where will this competence that's been entirely absent for his whole life suddenly appear from?
He's had time to find more competent advisors that are loyal to him. Will he? And just as important will he even listen to them? Not sure. But the MAGA movement has definitely changed a lot since his first stint in office.
