You'd think that Germany would want to be on the right side of history this time.

They didn't realize the problem with the holocaust was the genocide bit, instead of the Jewish part. That's the only explanation for this behavior: they keep talking about their mistake, but obviously learned the wrong lesson.

This! Exactly this! This thinking hurts my brain! Let me be against war without being called a nazi! Like WTF??

I am a fucking hippy, not a nazi!

Na, they know genocide when they see it and don't waste the opportunity to help.

Thats like the oppisite of the issue here.

Remembrance is so deeply ingrained into our society, that a lot of people in power are struggling to even criticise Israel.

Add to that highly emotionally charged discourse and frustration in the general public at these protests plus cops being cops, jumping at an opportunity to bash lefties and you get this bullshit.

They should remember the genocide properly and not want to repeat it upon any ethnic group. Unfortunately, all they remember is that Jews were involved. I guess the concept of "genocide" is a little too complicated for a Nazi to recognise.

idk where you're from, but you're massively misrepresenting how "remembrance culture" works.

And if you're implying German = Nazi you can fuck right off.

I'm not implying Germans are Nazis. I'm implying people who support ethnic cleansing are Nazis. Which includes the current government of Germany, and many but not all of the people.

First of all, the actions of a state aren’t the actions of the people who live in a country - some may agree with those actions, but others still disagree. And even among those who agree, it’s hard to know whether they would still agree if they weren’t subjected to the state/media propaganda of their country.

This problem, like so many others, is a systemic one, not an individual one. If you’re looking for people to blame, its the wealthy elite.
