Where I live yards have all been turned into more buildings. The largest remaining yards are smaller than the average living room

Oof. My yard is 2 acres of redwoods and ferns, with a pond and a meadow.

True, new houses here, the back yard you can not even put a 15" pool, there's not enough space. Some people just have no grass in their backyard, just a big wood balcony/terrace with their bbq, table, chairs, etc. No more mowing!

In some places you'd be lucky to get more than about 60 days per year when you could use the yard.

Winter, rain, 30+ degree summers, etc.
