Perceptive announced it performed the world's first fully automated dental procedure using a robot. The system integrates AI, 3D imaging, and robotics, enabling tasks like crown placements in just 15 minutes. Perceptive claims their robotic dentist can diagnose and plan treatments using a 3D volumetric data procedure and an optical coherence technology (OCT) scan. Perceptive's CEO, Chris Ciriello, mentioned that FDA approval could take up to five years.

The only surgical robot I've seen used (at the 4 hospitals I've worked at) is the davinci, by Intuitive. None of those hospitals actually own the robot - it's like a permanent rental.

They're connected to the internet and send every single input to Intuitive - supposedly so they can assist better with telephone service when something fucks up.

100% guarantee they're using that data to train machine learning with the end-goal of being able to just hit a "cholecystectomy" button and then sit and watch the robot do the whole thing.
