I'm from Morocco. I have never left Morocco. I have always wanted to leave Morocco, hell, permanently even. I fucking hate my country. Context: Morocco is the most patriotic country in the world with about 94% of its citizens willing to fight for their country. I'm one of the 6% who don't.
So why haven't I left Morocco? Everyone imposes visa restrictions on us, and the ones that don't aren't THAT great. Türkiye is the cheapest destination that doesn't require a visa, South Korea won't even let us in (immigrants, that's why), Brazil is cool I guess, same with the Dominican Republic, but I don't think I can visit Hong Kong and expect to come back safely. San Marino requires you to enter through a Schengen country, in this case Italy, so it doesn't even count anyway because Schengen requires a visa to enter.
Also, I'm queer, which means EVERYONE is my enemy. I could go to jail if I come out of my tiny ass closet. And once I finally get to the country of my dreams, I'm always expecting some bigot to tell me to go back where I come from.
This is seriously depressing.
My dad was stationed in Morocco back in the 50’s. He had good an experience there.
Good for him.
I’m sorry I realize that might not have come out the right way. It sucks they aren’t progressive and understanding and I hope you can get to a physical location where people are accepting and you can live your life outside the closet. ❤️
Thank you. I always appreciate comments like this.
