Important thing that Lenin points out: the bourgeois state wont wither away since its very existence means that society is divided in a irreconciliable class struggle.

A violent revolution is needed to destroy the bourgeois state and turn it into a proletarian state, a dictatorship of the proletariat.

Only a DotP is able to be done with private property when it inevitably turns obsolete and hinders the development of the productive forces, and advance to the next stage of development of society, under which new contradictions will rise and the form of the state will take another form in order to deal with them.
