I'm happy with any new user as long as they read Settlers, and affirm their support for our trans comrades. Anyone who can't can face the fucking wall as far as I'm concerned.
If a plan for "evacuation" had any chance of success, you wouldn't need to post from a fresh account.
Transpeople should be socially accepted and supported.
Settlers; any suggestion for a particular reading strategy? As a soon-to-be-former Leftypoler, I'm way too familiar with a pessimistic view to history, so the notion of Americans dehumanizing, decimating, and displacing Amerindians is a bit trite. What elements should I focus on to expand my understanding? The psychology of colonialism, like the self-defense mechanisms settlers used to consider themselves human despite the violence they inflicted on other human beings? The seguing of violence: how by dehumanizing and committing atrocities on others, the inhibitions against violence on one's own ingroup was reduced? The anatomy of moderate defeat: how humanists tried and failed to stem the tide of their less humane countrymen, and were ostracized in turn for opposing "progress"?
Ah:

Looks way more interesting (IIRC I had confused it for some other history of American colonization), and the questions I have for reading it (i.e, psychology and sociology of a labor aristocracy) are better.
Edit 2:
This is very, very good.

Ah, I'll keep my reading to myself, was aiming to lurk anyways.
I don't think it's worth overthinking - you'll spend more time worrying about how to read it that you could spend reading it.
Settlers reads to me like a history, with some editorializing sprinkled in. Critics almost solely focus on the editorializing.
My read is that settlers, as a group, have interests that oppose the freedom of colonized peoples in the U$. They have, as a group, historically opposed freedom for their "fellow" colonized workers. You're welcome to your own interpretation.
I'm up to Chapter 4, after having preread Chapter 14 (last chapter).
TBH, honestly, it sounds like the cultural DNA of the United States is extremely diseased (being based on bourgeois settlers living off enslaved Africans on land expropriated from Amerindians in a most brutal fashion, and having voted, similar to the current Israelis, for a monster). I wonder if having done a decent course in Marxist American studies would have saved the Soviet leadership from attempting to negotiate with the Americans, and when that failed, to have the Soviets commit suicide in an attempt to bring peace.
I mean, I'm mildly familiar with other histories of demographic expansion, but you can draw a straight line from the genocide of Amerindians to modern American imperialism. Some things never change.
Wonderful! I think pre reading the last chapter is a good idea. Glad it seems helpful!
Just saw the edits, glad you were able to find it!
I would honestly only be ok with this personally if leftypol evacced the entry procsess was tightened up and questions about things like intersectionality, trans comrades and opinions on places like cuba, china,
I'd also ask how they feel about womens rights, child sexual material and engaging in a website that often has CSAM material on its front page for an entire day, as a regular occurance and still choosing to use that website every single day to post while the admins fail to even implement basic moderation on new posts, such as limiting image posting to IP's with X amount of posts to slow down botters long enough that mods can ban them.
Thats why I had a hard blanket 'fuck off' below to further explain myself.
Think about it, why would you ever tolerate this? The ego of the admins, to keep up there little vanity project while CSAM spammers plaster it front page and then just let the dustbin fire burn every day. If you cant stop this, you shouldnt be running a website. It ruins communists reputations so much that I genuinally believe the entire thing is an op.
Thats not even mentioning the unironic nazbol threads, anyone associating with it isnt worth this place.
In light of this, you're probably right. I'm not familiar with leftypol at all, basically, other than the reddit sub named after it was gross.
leftypol is a derrative of 8pol, its users who fled that website for not being leftist.
that website also had actual tolerated CSAM on it, which should tell you the admins at one point previouslly didnt care the website they used every day and moderated had CSAM hosted on there own website.
Is CSAM just CP?
You can check online for rationales of why anti-abuse groups now prefer the term CSAM, but afaik CSAM (child sexual abuse material) is effectively an updated and less casual term for the same thing. Something can be sex abuse material without meeting various definitions of pornography.
Yes
Ah, gross
Leftypol and CSAM is more an issue of Leftypol being immersed in chan culture, where dumping CSAM is a common troll, and the fact that Leftypol's moderation staff is rarely active. Not only can CSAM exist for way too long, anti-semitic material can take hours before moderation responds.
And yeah, the pro-NATO posters doing the raid had moderator support, so to me, it's support for your hypothesis that the thing is a government honeytrap.
This is not the reason. Most CSAM on imageboards (as with any open forum or comment section) is commercial advertising. Someone did a decent write-up here. [warning: post is on an imageboard thread, a couple of the replies later are edgy or dumb racist crap]
Like the thread says, even in raids it's a very, very rare tactic.
You are right about the moderation being slow to respond, as well as failing to put in automated defenses like leftychan and nuclear change.
I agree that the actual CSAM on leftpol is spammers trying to advertise or hurt the site, however they also tolerate loli porn and have historic roots to 8chan. The lax moderation tells me its more likely on purpose given the roots of the admin staff and the fact that people bring this up, all the time to the admins publically, they ignore it.
Ah, I wasn't even thinking about non-photo stuff. I don't know enough so I'll take your word on that one. They would definitely do their best to delete the photo stuff, because it's capitalist advertsiting, spam, disgusting to the point users would leave the site and also grounds for being reported to their server host. But I can't say I would be surprised whichever way they approached cartoon stuff, and I think it's reasonable to bring up 'chan culture' there.
I don't think the historical roots to 8chan are particularly relevant to this issue, because looking at 8/leftypol/ on the wayback archive, they explicitly had an anti-loli rule. It was just one board at the time rather than the collection it is now, so 8chan's notorious freeze peach US Libertarian liberalism didn't apply to /leftypol/ then.
I find that hard to argue, sharing a board with a website hosting actual CSAM (as well as q-anon shit and conspiracy up the ass) is a terrible look
8ch was the reddit of imageboards in more ways than one; reddit infamously hosted /r/jailbait and other horrible subreddits for many years. Socialist subreddits (incl. those which were historical roots of lemmygrad.ml) weren't really affected by reddit also having CSAM, fascist, etc. boards because one can completely ignore they exist elsewhere on the site. The same was how /leftypol/ was. And in both cases, the community was on a crappy site because it's free hosting, there's no implied common values.
I love MLAATR!
