I'd be interested to hear any current mod make a case for themself sticking around, opening up their sub again, in order to keep their role.

Genuinely, I can't understand why they'd do that. I'm just a user, not a mod, but the changes were enough to make me delete my account. Maybe that's it, it's their feeling of loss that stops them leaving.
