She also makes an appearance in the later episodes, when Moomin spends a winter without hibernating, alone.
If we're talking about the 90s anime adaptation.
Not sure about anime, but definitely 90s. And I remember that episode! I completely forgot! I gotta find my VHS tapes. And the VHS player, I suppose. Possibly the best show from my childhood. Learned a lot of life lessons from it.
The 1990s anime adaptation was a collaboration between the Janssons, the dutch production company Telecable Benelux B.V., and the japanese anime studio Telescreen Japan. It is by far the most widely distributed version of the Moomins, with voiced dubs in several dozen languages produced.
It was the third of several Moomin anime adaptations, and the most faithful due to the Janssons direct involvement. They deliberately prevented the wide distribution of the earlier adaptations outside of Japan, as they stray quite far from the source material.
Full seasons of the 1990 adaptation can be found on both youtube and the internet archive.
This was Japanese anime? I never knew that!
Edit: I picked a random screenshot, but this episode was the very first episode I have ever watched.
It's episode 1, so makes sense.
Check out the original japanese opening, it's wonderful but wasn't used in a lot of other countries.
That was the first episode? Hahahah oh man
That was a very beautiful intro. The song was vastly different. Can't say I didn't dislike it, though.
That is a wonderful intro. Wish I understood the lyrics.
