It's certainly sad, but I find myself more often using a local API instead. For instance, Freetube has the option to only use their local API, and it has been working flawlessly throughout this whole barrage from Google. No ads, functioning SponsorBlock, just unfortunately without the proxy. But it still seems to work with my VPN.
