I saw this movie at one of the sneak previews. It’s a decent movie with really neat animation. It however feels so much like a Seth Rogan venture that the whole thing gets brought down. I feel like Rogan intentionally doesn’t allow his movies to have more than a certain amount of depth and that always hinders the experiences of his projects for me. They’re always just shallow “have fun at the movies” projects and they leave you wanting way more. The Attack on Titan stuff for example in this movie felt so lazy and cheap.
Mutant Mayhem could have been a spider-verse level movie if the writing team was different. Unfortunately it relegates itself to being more of a kids movie than something kids and adults can get something out of.
