Lots of people who think "hot take" as a preface really just means "I'm about to say some dumb shit that I don't want to be held socially accountable for", more like.
Oh sure the majority of the majority race voted for Trump, must be the Latinos' fault.
Makes sense.
Blame is not zero sum
But replying to the thread is the sunk cost fallacy.
Side note - did the definition of "hot take" change in recent years? I thought it used to mean "this is my first reaction without taking the time to look deeply" then suddenly it became "here's my unpopular opinion."
Was I ever right? Or was it always used like it is today?
