umm, how about just having standards?
Why wouldn't he pardon others with the same charges?

We all have standards. That's not the problem. You can have all the standards in the world when a fascist takes over. You can keep having standards as they walk you to the camps. And you can clutch tightly to the standards when they bring you to the showers. The world's about to change my dude.
