The police are doing forensic testing on a dehydrator found at the tip. Wtf so she was making mushroom chips? This story is getting more and more bizarre.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I initially thought it was a tragic dumb mistake, but with the extra info it’s so fishy. Police saying source of mushrooms is still unknown. Which would imply that she’s not saying. How do you have mushrooms in your kitchen and not know where they came from? Then you find random mushrooms in your kitchen and put them in a dehydrator? Somethings not right.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm so traumatised by this. Ok where did the mushrooms come from? No comment.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ironically, if she has done something murderous, and had said she had picked them and unknowingly made a mistake, she might have made a plausible argument. There would be no proof it wasn’t a mistake. If she’s trying to avoid scrutiny she’s not being very smart about it.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah manslaughter is plausible. I bet my bottom dollar they're now looking into the ex husband's medical records though.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

They have, apparrently he had some mystery illness that put him in hospital in an induced coma for 16 days.....

“I collapsed at home, then was in an induced coma for 16 days through which I had three emergency operations mainly on my small intestine, plus an additional planned operation,” he wrote in May 2022.

It's really bizarre that they don't know if she ate any of the meal or if there were mushrooms in it. That makes no sense unless she is not answering questions. The only explanation I can come up with that doesn't involve her having done something is that one of their kids is a murderous psychopath she is covering for, but that seems pretty unlikely.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

Oh they know a lot more that the media don't. The ex husband was hospitalised for some undisclosed mystery illness. This story is gonna be big.

I think we need to get Vera on the case.

Or Columbo.

Miss Marple. Sitting there over afternoon tea. By the time she's finished her brew she's got the answer.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Hopefully the answer is not contaminated tea...

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was gonna cook a mushroom medly when I go camping on the weekend. Guess thats off the table 🙃

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No foraging. Stick to baked beans mate.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

T'Gallant Winery in Mornington Peninsula run mushroom foraging tours on their property, pretty fun :) https://mushroomtours.com/

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How many people were at the lunch?! Like just the host/s and the people who, uh, suffered?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think so. Her kids were there too.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So either the fam bam has some pretty epic mushroom resistance, orrrrrr...?! Maybe they just don't like mushrooms, but knew the guests did and wanted to cook something fun for them? Or it's a total plot. Wild. I wonder what'll come.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Her and the kids didn't eat them. Only the four guests but there is so much more to this story. Can't wait for the book.

who shat on the floor at my wedding sequel: who put mushrooms in my luncheon

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Haha. I'd like somebody to explain to me why you would dehydrate your food because that shit ain't normal.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

dehydrate mushroom, grind into powder, sprinkle onto your enemies' food

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

See there's the crime right there.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Ok, so death cap mushrooms do resemble the edible ones I described, but you'd still need to be a fucking idiot to not know the difference and cook and feed them to people. She could very well be a fucking idiot.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe she tested it out on the ex husband first?

My husband and I watch a lot of true crime and we will often discuss how we would kill/get rid of the body/ cover up and so on then I'll say to him "Now now darling drink your nice strong coffee there. I made it extra tasty for you". We are of course joking but this is a real life Agatha Christie novel.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Poison is a common murder weapon. "I didn't do anything!" what does that even mean? She did cook the fucking mushrooms and serve them. Those people died.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The way she gets out of the car and looks at the media like "fuck me. Leave me alone. You're getting annoying now". Lady you've killed people. They ain't going anywhere. They gonna film your every move.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yes, she fed them the death cap mushrooms. Whether intentional or not.

I like how they describe south gippsland as close knit. It's super white, parochial and backward. Yarram while I was there had an art mural phase where a guy, heesco of Mongolian heritage painted a whole load of colonial white men doing farm / colonialist things. One woman and one first nations among about twenty murals. It was fantastic in its execution and economically developed the town, but it reinforced how stuck in the 1960s the whole are is.

Also - I had big wild mushrooms growing in my front yard down there at around this time of year. People would collect them, apparently they're a delicacy. I cooked one and it smelled like greasy dirt. Too easy to mistake them honestly for poisonous ones unless you really know what you're doing.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I knew a couple down there and the story is that he thought he was wonderful and the rest of the town thought he was a cunt. So that tells me they are very good at hiding things.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

People are good at gossiping that's for sure.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Were they orange? Did you have pine trees? Alot of edible wild mushrooms look nothing like what you get in the supermarket. The ones that look like you could get them in the supermarket are normally the deadly ones

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

No they were white, brown underneath and looked a bit like the big mushrooms you can get at most supermarkets. They also looked a bit like death caps. No way I was eating the fuckin things. I grew enough potatoes and brassicas to feed myself anyway.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Have you caught the update? Police went back to the tip. I mean, there a lot of other places to hide evidence around Leongatha. Like a huge fucking coastline of remote beaches, bushland. I think we are dealing with a fucking idiot as I previously deduced.
