I have over 1300 hours in fallout 4, and 3 & vegas combined are probably in a similar realm. So I really want to like Skyrim, but I just don't care for it nearly as much. It gets so much praise but when I look at it it all looks so samey. The dungeons all feel identical, the combat is extremely boring, and you have the same combat music playing over and over.
Blindly swinging a sword doesn't come close to how good gunplay feels in fallout 4, dungeons in fallout each feel more unique, and the radio is such a good feature compared to not having the option. Also i simply find sci fi more interesting than medieval sorcery stuff.
I'm the exact opposite. I love Skyrim and Oblivion, but just couldn't get into any of the Fallout games I've tried. I liked the Fallout games in a mechanical standpoint but I've never liked the post-apocalyptic genre so I just can't keep interested.
This is exactly why both Skyrim and Witcher 3 didn't appeal to me. Idk, maybe I just like guns in games or the medieval era isn't my cup of tea.
Skyrim combat really doesn't have many interesting things going on. Melee combat has very few options. Magic starts hard with too few mana and gets overpowered once you reach enchanting 100 (even without any bug abuse). And stealth archer also gets boring eventually. Fall Out 4 was a lot more fun with all the diverse guns (especially with modifying them yourself).
I did really like the world of Oblivion and Skyrim, the worlds are filled with towns and NPCs. This felt so much better compared to Fallout 3. Fallout 4 had a lot more community going on and you had more diverse safe locations compared to Fallout 3.
