I'm aware that wikipedia is biased btw, but I was curious if there's truth to this

Why would Xi put him in such a high position then?

He is still a decently good statesmen, and Xi still needs to pander to foreign capital to build the Chinese economy. He can’t just press the Gommunism Button.
