yea

downvotes are abused by bots or people

if people don't like a post, they often "downvote" by withholding an upvote and "ratioing" the post with more comments than upvotes

edit: you could still have a downvote that doesn't affect the score, if you want to do it that way. score could collect only the upvotes, or they could be separate tallies I mean.
