The amount of people in /r/soccer and /r/gunners who want to abuse people who support the blackout is too damn high
Thanks for making an effort in spreading this community on r/Gunners (at least I assume it's you based on the username). Not received that well it seems. It appears that our old home is filled with uninformed and narrow-minded people that frankly it's better to avoid.
That comment about Lemmy looking like social media from 2008 like that's a bad thing says it all really.
The irony is that these people do not realise Reddit looks the same without all the third party tools like RES.
I honestly think Lemmy is a little buggy and the backend mod tools are lacking, but the basic UI argument is so ridiculous considering they're on Reddit.
Agreed. The only way you can pull the UI argument is if you're using a 3P app today which these users clearly aren't. Argue about the lack of content or whatever, but complaining about the UI is so ironic haha.
Your post bringing awareness to Lemmy was awesome. The abuse is ridiculous, accusing you of trying to grab power for yourself. People will always be resistant to change. I honestly hate being bombarded by ads. The official app is like an ad every two posts.
Yea, I really didn't expect to be accused of a power grab. Literally the first thing I did after creating this community was contact the /r/gunners mods and offer to hand it over to them no strings attached without me even staying involved.
I don't know if you have ever been a mod before but you're doing a great job. I appreciate all the posts you make while the community grows, it makes it feel more active. I feel like most of the early adopters to Lemmy are going to be lurkers and less willing to make posts.
Cheers, mate! Appreciate the positive words.
100% agree, but there are 315k supporters on r/gunners. We don't need everyone to support or agree, but for a lot of reddit users might want a new home that already serves the exact same purpose. The tough part is going to be moderating and dealing on a new platform.
honestly hope they join in the indefinite blackout, given Reddit's response. I've left "indefinitely" though so I haven't looked myself.
