Excuse my ignorance, is that kind of like NASCAR racing?

Yes but generally the tracks are smaller. We're running 1/4 mile but we've also got 1/3 and 1/2 mile tracks somewhat close to us.

Oh cool! Is it fairly expensive? I can imagine you're going through a few sets of tyres? What cars are you racing? (sorry, 20 qs!)

We're racing what's called a sportsman series. We're actually running a specific engine, crate 602 that's regulated so you can't change anything so it keeps it cheaper. We're running that on an 88 Chevy Monte Carlo frame. To keep costs down the track does a tire bank. You get 6 tires at the beginning of the season then you earn 1 tire for every 2 races you race.
