I kind of want to get the communities feeling on leaving registrations open. Do you want them to stay open, or do you think it was better when they were approval only?

I think it makes sign up instructions easier if you want to advertise. Nothing kills the mood for some people like explaining why you want to go on the loli friendly instance.

Yall should consider integrating Monero micropayments into your registration process, works really great on monero.town People scan a qr code (embedded on registration via markdown) or paste the address into their wallet and in the application question they post the transaction ID. No awkward coming up with an answer and it contributes to keeping the instance alive. While people who break rules can just buy access again, if they constantly misbehave they are just giving you more coins 🤷‍♂️

Nothing kills the mood more than hooking up a bank account to a crypto bank so that you can buy monaro so that you can log in to the loli friendly instance.

I think that's pretty cool that you have it set up that way over there! Not something we would do, though.

We do accept Donations in Monero (and other crypto too.) and I think that's about as much as we're going to go. I can't see locking registration behind crypto donation being anything but a huge pain for people, and it'd probably only hurt us, especially since we're heavily defederated.
