Clearly I'm living on another instance, but I'm wondering is startrek.website community creation is locked or not? Feels like all the different Trek sub-communities should be hosted here. Show specific ones like Lower Decks, things like Star Trek Online, etc. but so far it seems like its just the big 3.
That's in the plans for the future for sure! (I'm the Admin for StarTrek.website)
I wanna see a r/shittydaystrom here as well
its such a fun sub
and don't forget about /r/tenagra
Reddit, its face white, its eyes red.
His arms open
Create the community that you wish to see?
Your username should either be Computer or The Warp Core.
This unit must survive.
"This is your friendly, positronic, pissed off system admin, back on line!"
Which mod were you on the /r/startrek sub?
Are the rules from there basically carried over here? Or will we start seeing racist/homophobic/other shitty behavior-style trek posts being allowed?
Just want to know if signing up is worth it or if I should move on.
Thank you.
I'm the original founder of /r/StarTrek and while I'm not a mod there anymore, I can vouch that the teams there and here are the same.
OK cool, thank you. I guess I will see how things pan out. Appreciate you guys taking the time to keep the community going.
Not just going, boldly going.
HA!
There should be an Orville community there because the Orville is a Star Trek show.
I just started watching that show a couple days ago
What do you think so far? Season 1 has some pretty good episodesβsomething you canβt always say about Star Trek proper.
I thought it was just going to be a parody of star trek the whole time like space balls was for star wars, but it had some interesting concepts and a lot of character development. Not what I expected at all, but I love it.
It gets better, too!
Hey, if it stars an extra from Enterprise, it's canon.
Cassidy Yates is also a regular there so double canon?
Voyager's Doctor makes an appearance too
If we count all the guest stars (Picardo, Sirtis, Billingsly, Russ, etc) and directors (Frakes, McNeill) together, it might be close to triple canon then.
Edit: Couldn't leave Tuvok relegated to "etc".
And it has the (sniff) ideology of Trek
The Doctor vs. Phlox, even. Turns out Phlox was a bit of a dick.
Marina Sirtis is in an episode as well.
... and some more I'd forgotten about: https://screenrant.com/orville-star-trek-actors-cameos-every/
That makes Babylon 5 canon as well.
@raspberry_confetti @Powderhorn
"Great maker!"
Speaking of.. Did you see the trailer for the new Babylon 5 movie?
WAT no, I didn't!
I miss The Orville! It filled a huge void for me.
Naming it into a more generic sci-fi name, like scifi.website, might have made more sense, since it would open things up for other franchises, like star wars/stargate/doctor who to also be hosted.
It would be a bit like rec.arts.sf.* from back in the day.
With Star Trek being such a massive franchise with a bunch of subcommunities, I think it makes some sense for it to be its own thing. There's no need to merge communities, having dedicated spaces is nice.
