Dunking on Tankies from a leftist perspective.
A tankie is someone who defends/supports authoritarian or even totalitarian regimes who call themselves "socialist". The term originated from people supporting the 1956 invasion of Hungary by the Soviet Union. Nowadays they are just terminally online, denying genocides, and falling for totalitarian propaganda and calling such regimes "true democracies". remember to censor usernames when necessary.

I don't really understand the defense of the Russian Federation by contemporary communists. The Russian Federation is about as communist as the US is; if anything, it's more fascist than the US is. Is it just a Tankie tradition to like Russia at this point?
Their logic is anything that anything that's against west, must be good
Russia is essentially an oil company with the added "benefit" of owning an army to protect their business interests.
Just like on other social media, a lot of them aren't real people.
They are probably infiltrated by the borfarms too. They are as soft as a clay to form them in the needed way. I don't know about Lemmy, but Reddit has a lot of communitites and users unironically inviting everyone to flee from woke democracies.
