DMT Dank Microwave Taco
Let’s take a trip on DMT. Welcome to the Dank Microwave Taco or DMT for short. Anything and everything goes in here. Be sure to share your experience on DMT with your friends, family and social media. @WiggleHard bans nothing and exiles nobody (Dont doxx wolfballs users, no posting of porn/nudes or foot fetish material unless it involves political scandals, no ads for sex sites or dating sites; do that on your own time, no solicitation for pyramid scams, no posting job advertisements unless from official job sites, no posts supporting pedophilia, not all love is love) also: (we cannot allow violations of the patriot act concerning how we speak, no calls for violence, suggesting you are personally harming someone ect. These things are not free speech protected by law but actually against the law and could get the website shut down.) (no spam posting, especially spam posting of what could be considered symbols of hate) examples: guy posting nazi flag 5 times in one day, guy posting “whitey is the devil over and over, im going to use my best judgement on this one rule)

I haven't bothered much: except for a few niche interests that we don't really have here, they don't really have anything to offer for me. And in those interests, if I run into something where I have a question or want feedback, I can usually find an answer somewhere else on the web. For what's left, if I need to ask a large number of people on a heavily censored network, then Reddit has a numbers advantage and I don't see what lemmy.world or any of the other pro-censorship instances offer over Reddit other than different masters.
I was thinking about starting subs for those interests here but never got around to asking how moderation works (like one of the interests had been invaded by removed**removeds on Reddit so I don't want to bother unless I can make similar rules to dankmemes/dmt and explicitly forbid removed**removed shit as being off-topic). Plus wasn't sure how that would be impacted if we move to nostr
When you set up your own community, you become the moderator and define the rules in the community. You can add other moderators as you see fit.
At an instance level, I just monitor the reports that come in and make sure sure there is no child porn, etc.
Be smart about the subject lines that appear in the local feed as they effect the whole instance.
I would welcome you to set up and if any problems crop up we will deal with them then.
But you seen how we operate here. We try to censor as little as possible.
Thanks Kapow. Hadn't been sure before if special clearance was needed or what.
Not sure I completely get this part. Does this just mean don't have bad language etc? Or something more?
For instance, one of the things that I was specifically thinking about was on some reddit subs for Linux, some trans people started coming in and posting gross pictures of men's legs with thigh-high socks calling them "programming socks" as some kind of trans joke. Even leaving my disgust for it aside, I think that kind of thing was off topic even in the original Reddit subs, but pointing it out obviously didn't get me anything but grief there. Not sure how best to handle if we had some kind of Linux sub here. E.g. is the recommended way to just say it is off topic and therefore should be posted in some other sub, or let free speech reign supreme / don't even mention it in sub rules as I can still just user-block anyone doing it (assuming we get those types here), or something else?
Would nostr migration mean creating new from scratch or we would port existing subs or way too early to know?
A good Linux community would be great.
If stuff is off topic, then say so and remove it. I do not think that is unreasonable.
I think you will find we have a pretty good crew here with an occasional troll to be dealt with.
We are still at the early stages of looking at Nostr, I would not hold back on account of that.
Awesome, thanks man
I think you should it's a great idea. 'Different masters ' very well put!
