I don’t think it would even be controversial in all but the most loudly fascist circles to say that a cop covering his badge # should immediately be fucking fired
If I see a cop covering his badge that should be grounds for self defense if I doohickey his Roblox and he's Dead by Daylight
then you would have to fire all the cops at once, because they all do it and it's accepted by leadership and allowed
Look on the bright side
“He failed to identify himself as a police officer when he tried to violate my rights so I shot him”
I know no court would agree and the cops would kill you before you got to court anyway but this is exactly how it should work. If that badge number is covered, as far as I’m concerned you’re not a cop, you’re just some dude in body armor attacking me, I’m standing my ground.
The same should be true if they don't have a bodycam on and operating. A little harder to tell by sight, but if they can't produce body cam video of the arrest then it's no longer an arrest but a kidnapping.
