Im always torn on this in soulslikes. I want to survive and see the next thing but I also dont want to fall behind on leveling

I get that. I find that if I don't have any souls on me, I can explore more freely without the pressure of needing to watch out for my souls and being afraid of losing them. So I usually just stick to the souls I get on my way to the boss and from the boss encounter itself for levels and don't stress about levels too much until I'm there
