[Discussion] Threads and Tumblr are working on implementing Activitypub. How do you think this will affect fediverse (lemmy.world)

Maybe this could be a positive thing for newbies since now mastodon instances can federate with Tumblr and Threads to become more viable

Or could it bring destruction? Just like what happened with XMPP and OpenID

I hope not. But even so there seperate networks defederated from Threads can exists which is the most optimistic outcome if Threads implements activitypub
