  • If any app ( regardless of the platform they are in ) you know of that is fully FOSS and doesn't have any ads , tracking or any other anti features that didn't make the list it is a mistake and you can dm me and i will add it. The same goes for apps that are not really FOSS or have anti features , Even though i have tried my best some mistakes could've been made or if the newer updates of one of the apps listed made it unworthy to be included in the list , the platform it listed on isn't available for it or the link is broken you can dm me and i will remove/fix it.

I just want more people in Lemmy so the communities feel more alive :(

I think it has a good amount of activity nowadays, it definitely was a wasteland before the APIcalypse.

The first app I used was Jerboa. I didn't dislike it, but as someone who used to browse reddit with Infinity and liked it's look a lot, I ended up chosing Eternity when it came out (it's a fork of Infinity).

Infinity still exists to, for those who still use Reddit, but it's now it's paid (because the devs need to pay for API access with Reddit's new policy).

I just use Jerboa. Its simple enough for me.

What are the devs paying spez a billion ? Lol

I would love to see a brief description of each as well, or perhaps a feature matrix.

I'm looking to switch clients but have a few deal breaker features.

I prefer if it has a decent built in media player complete with controls, particularly timeline skipping available for GIFs.

And columns. I continue to just Sync currently because I can customize my column layout, and even specify how many columns in portrait mode vs landscape mode.

Racoon is decent, free and open source.

I dont get it. Do you want just a list? Search on F-Droid.

  • Raccoon
  • thunder
  • muffed
  • combustible
  • liftoff

Or are there categories like

  • platform support
  • maintenance
  • features
  • bugs

Non of these are on fdroid and i have included some examples in the post

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

liftoff isn't compatible with 0.19 and development appears to have stalled.

[-] [email protected] -5 points 4 months ago

Doesn't matter i am just building apps with specific requirment and that doesn't include

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

Liftoff has been mia for six months

[-] [email protected] -1 points 4 months ago

Maybe they'll continue develop ? Who knows i guess i will add it then

You may want to add Izzyondroid repo

And those apps are all foss, raccoon is on github only

Thunder is my app of choice. Its on IzzyOnDroid and the dev team is super responsive.

[-] [email protected] -4 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I can only add it if you can present aource like a link for its github page or anything

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago
[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Even though i couldn't find anything about if ads are included or not i trust you so added

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Nope, no ads.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

No FOSS app will include Ads... you could just fork it and remove that part

Oh and @OP you might want to use [linktext](URL)

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

many Foss apps have ads on their play store versions. I think both Librera reader and My expenses do.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

Those versions are not FOSS

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

But it could mean the same for these apps too.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Often they implement proprietary libraries from Google, those are not included in the F-Droid versions and often also not in their own release APKs

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

In case no one has forked a specific app

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Is Summit not FOSS? I thought it was. I use sync but that is my favorite alternative.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

It’s on GitHub to host releases but I don’t see the actual source code?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Yep my bad I misinterpreted the GitHub page due to inexperience. OP clarified in a newer post

[-] [email protected] 0 points 4 months ago

Does it have ads or tracking ?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

No tracking and I don't recall seeing ads

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago
[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

I've just installed Racoon and it's really good. I'll stick with it and see.

[-] [email protected] -1 points 4 months ago

Drinkable for making cocktails.

Vector Pinball for a light, fun pinball game.

Baby Dots to entertain my kids without harvesting their data or driving them insane.

KOReader for ebooks. It takes some setting up and getting used to but I'm happy with it now

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

This isn't that kind of threaf its for lemmy apps only

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Sorry, I'll have to learn the difference. I just saw FOSS F-droid and went from there
