I don't think anyone here expected reddit to just fall over and die from the protests, nor is it a competition.

Lemmy will probably never reach the heights reddit have done but it's a growing community with great potential and I for one am really enjoying being part of it.

Just because the site is up does not mean it is functioning like normal. It is clear they are moderating the first page heavily now. And things are off. The top post on my feed is a TIL. Those never make it to the top especially with only 8k karma on them. This isn't normal, this is the admins trying to make it appear normal.

is it, though? the quality has gone down even further, even if posts are still being made. a shitton of stuff on Reddit is lost, only kept on the Internet Archive instead of the actual site. considering a lot of power users jumped ship, there's less content in general. so, yes, it's still perfectly functional, and people are gonna use it. but it's gonna degrade at a pretty steady rate, and the users still there are gonna use the site less because of it.
