When the USSR existed, western leftists complained that their stances on long hair, rock music, etc was evidence of their totailtarian, authoritarian nature, now that China has loosened up those restrictions and allowed for more individual expression, western leftists are calling China "state capitalism" What gives?

It can definitely be annoying but I think it's best to find comfort in knowing what they think literally doesn't matter. Doesn't affect China in the slightest. All you have to do if someone is not willing to admit they are wrong about China is just disengage and wait. Just literally wait. Its only a matter of time till China proves them wrong just by continuing to exist.

The issue with this though is that the USSR is still broadly viewed negatively by the Western left. Propaganda works wonders for the capitalist establishment.

God that document always blows my mind even now. The fact that even the CIA figured out that for the most part the Soviet people were united against the common threat is INSANE.

I don’t think it’s insane.

An intelligence agency has to know the truth in order to successfully carry out its propaganda missions.

If you think that’s insane you should watch this video. The entire Hollywood film history of the United States is all propoganda. The CIA has its hand in all media past and present. Books, film, print, TV news, journalism.
