One week is left to reddit IPO. Should we be prepared for increased discussion on the internet about social media and fediverse? It would be a good time for our instance promotion. Apparently WallStreetBets are preparing to short the reddit stock, they might be onto something. If they will be succesful I think fediverse will be mentioned.

On the other hand, I just went to WSB. Looks like they aren't really interested in fediverse. Almost no talk about it

Everyone keeps saying Twitter is dying, but everyone complaining is still there.

I think people who want to move move, many don't want to.

Agree. I think ppl are lazy honestly

Educate me. What exactly is IPO ? Means making shares purchasable by the public right?

Huh....ok, so here's my view just from my perspective and experience, in regards to getting ppl to come over here....

I'm NOT saying this to discourage your, so please don't take it that way.

Look, human beings are fucking lazy. They will take the easiest least required effort for anything. Dude, it is 2024, technology is upgrading at light speeds and I feel it should be the norm, to quickly adapt to new shit.

I just see to many of them bitching about how complicated fediverse is. I have to be honest, when I first heard of mastogay like 6 years ago? Yea, that shit didn't make no dam sense.

But you have to take the initiative though that's the the thing. And they are too lazy to do that.

Not to mention, when you're learning like a new program or something and stuff like that you know these are just required for day-to-day jobs and shit you need to get hands on with the program and I feel like people when it comes to Mastodon and activity Pub they don't do that they just look at a bunch of instructions online and say that's too complicated and throw their hands up in the air and say the hell with it.

And to me it's like why don't you download some apps and fuck with them and mess around with them so you can learn it Hands-On first and then you'll get an idea of what's what this means that and so forth.

You know people just don't take initiative like that anymore you know it's you pretty much have to spoon feed people these kinds of things it's really ridiculous and sad in my opinion.

But I would say don't give up cuz I'm still inviting people and I think you should too.

Yes IPO is exactly that. Or in other words it's a stock market debut.

I mean I think you are not wrong. Laziness, but also real lack of time and energy. By that I mean people are just working. Usually to survive and provide for their families. And usually it's pretty draining. And after work you just want to chill, not fight with the matrix. You take what's in front of you.

BTW that's how it should work from the perspective of those who the ones who make the rules, "elites" or whatever you call them. People should not have the energy to actually THINK about things.

Honestly? I'm not sure if I ever found fediverse and decided to take all these actions with instance and shit if I wasn't sick and couldn't work for many months now. At the very least I wouldn't have so much time to invest in this.

I'm far from giving up. My motivation is 10/10 here. It's 2 days left until reddit removes the ban from my old established account and I'm inviting again. Have a list of potential users prepared

YAY! It makes me happy that you are determined and ready to go and stuff :'D it's energizing.

Yea, when you're inviting ppl, just remember, sometimes you're gunna get to a point where you want to throw your phone at the wall.

It's important to take breaks and so something else if/ when they happens. Don't burn yourself out.

"nothing will happen"

ehh there may be more people leaving for fediverse, but probably them doing something dumb after going public will push more people to the fediverse than simply the IPO offering

Like increasing number of ads. This will be slowly introduced though. Wonder how it turns out. FB has shit ton of ads yet people still don't leave it (or do they)
