It wasn't amazing, but 1 star is just circlejerking in the opposite direction.

Idk I liked it a lot. Not because it was deep or anything. I just liked the writing and acting. It was also an immersive experience for me, not sure why.

I unironically think it's a better Joker origin(s) than the comics gave us.

That's not a hard bar to surpass though.

It really is devastating for such a short review.

He's the Hemingway of reviewers.

You Were Never Really Here (2017) Is a character study of what happens to people with exposure to repeated unresolved trauma and violence. It's basically like director Lynne Ramsay made Joker, but for a sophisticated audience. It even stars Joaquin Phoenix!

Edgy talentless guy bashes others work with no regards and doesn't even provide any context on why it is bad and in a way that could cut himself and then ~~everyone~~ lemmings clapped.

It is amazing how much this film borrowed from King Of Comedy. Almost to the point of being reminiscent of Magnificent Seven remaking Seven Samurai to appeal to a wider audience.

My sweet summer child... Making homages to the great Kurosawa has a long and proud history, including Fistful of Dollars, Last Man Standing, and many others. I'm glad you noticed the similarities, but don't assume that observation alone is sufficient to support a theory. 🤘🏽

It's like the "big as an ocean, deep as a puddle" saying people kept repeating

Blithely unaware of the baked-in irony, no less.

It's a Batman movie, how deep can it get? That's like expecting cheeseburgers at a Chinese restaurant.
