Would Canton Nestor 602s be good for a TV setup? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Hello, im someone who has no real clue about Audio, but what I do know is that my TV speaker are just kinda meh.

So for both esthetic and sound purposes I thought about maybe getting 2 tower speakers like these. Its important to know that these would mostly only play Youtube videos and the occasional Series or Movie.

So one of my main questions is if something like these is either Overkill or not suited for something like youtube Videos?

I am looking at an auction that'll end in 5 hours for around 100€. What do the experts on here think?

Keep in mind that these speakers will need an amplifier to power them, so if you're currently relying on TV speakers and don't have an amplifier you'll need to get one. You would want an amp that matches the impedance which looks like 4 to 8 Ohm.

How many watts a speaker need has nothing to do with how loud it is, you realize that, right?

Speakers don’t need their maximum RMS power. You’ll go deaf if you’re pushing 100w to these on the regular in a living room.

100w (or 150) is just the power rating that the manufacturer assures that the voice coils can safely handle without burning up after hours of use.

Even inefficient rocks masquerading as speakers will likely be uncomfortable to listen to for longer than 10 or 15 minutes at 100w.

Absolutely true and only because an amplifier is able to output 100W per channel, does not mean you have to put it in full volume. Higher output means better electronic components are used, also means I don’t have to use the amplifier in max power constantly

These seem to have decent reviews from what I could find.

Don’t forget that you’ll need a receiver to power them. Cheap secondhand ones are usually okay but won’t have fancy features like surround sound or atmos.

I know these are advertised to get to 25hz, but consider adding a sub at some point.

They will do fine and should massively improve your watching experience. Don't forget you need an amplifier/receiver.

Overkill is really subjective. What size is the room? As long as the space supports them, I’d say go for it.

If size is a concern, you can probably find some nice bookshelf speakers that’ll serve the purpose well.
