Yep, that's how I've been doing it. There aren't enough warm bodies on here to try and find niche communities yet.
NonCredibleDefense it's a buncha memes about war and feminization of war. Originally designed to show that anyone including femboys can be blood thirsty killing machines because Chinese media painted the west as "They/Them Armies" Hillarious, inclusive and even unintentionally wholesome at times.

NCD is unique to me because it seems to hold shitposters of every stripe and from every walk. Being truly non-credible requires a working knowledge of credibility, so it all balances out.
ive been enjoying ask lemmy and smaller communitys but im kinda in the same boat as you and i myself am also looking for lemmy places too.
PatientGamers, one of the communities that got me to make the jump off of reddit. It's a games discussion ~~subreddit~~ community with a focus on games that aren't new or currently super popular. Not as far back as the retrogaming enthusiasts, though.
Thats one of the first places I started commenting. Great idea for a community. I rarely buy games during the initial release so perfect for me.
I've been enjoying the meme communities so far. Unfortunately the smaller niche hobby communities don't have traction yet but I'm having a good time.
