I'd have died young as a medieval soldier. When I look at these, I can't see the shape; I can only hear the screech, scratch, scrape as I imagine a pike sliding through a gap. I'd be screwing up my face and doubling over at the sound long before the enemy got to me lol.

Hence why I'm most partial to the hounskull which basically doesn't have a gap a pike could screech through
worst case it hits you with a ton of blunt head trauma which i'll take any day over a pointy stick through the eye
