Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Yeah, the author is a bit 1337 hax0r, and is promoting their own tool, but I still thought the writeup was interesting. It's interesting to see how much a non-root process can do to globally visible data.
