Welcome to our virtual third place, The Café.

Come on in and make a new human connection over a cup of coffee (or Teh Tarik). This is a casual community, do whatever you want, share your oyen pics, your frustrations, and even organize a weekend picnic with the community. The world is your oyster.

Rules are simple, be kind and civil with each other. As with any other café, rude patrons will be kicked out.

Not as bad as my preganant brain. Was checking in to my hotel in Kelantan yesterday. Someone came and tegur me, looks super familiar, but I cannot put my finger on who this is. My brain immediately assumed, must be company staff who works in Kelantan, who I must have met back in January at our company retreat! Ofc I don’t remember him, I met so many people there from all over Malaysia. I can be excused.

Turns out he’s one of our vendors that I actually worked directly with only in July. Severely apologized after, but aiyah so embarrassing

Researching for [email protected], I have histories of places I have in mind but there's barely any articles online that focuses on the history. my choices are either travelogs or primary sources - chapters of books from British orientalists written 100 years ago.

Just bought a replacement for my seven year old laptop, it serve me well but getting too old to continue for my current needs. Hopefully the new laptop will serve me as well.

How are you guys? Now thinking to grab a brunch soon.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What laptop did you get? Just curious. Just had an awesome bowl of Sarawak laksa 🤤

Illegear Onyx V AMD Ryzen 7, GTX1650 with 16 RAM and 512GB Samsung SSD. Second hand.

Yes I am cheap.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Haha, my man. Hvt bought a new laptop since forever, got a fancy thinkpad z16 2nd hand recently. Had a bad batch of Illegear last time, mcm QA very hit or miss, warranty is long though but damn does it get frustrating.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

just searched up Z16 beautiful laptop but it's more expensive than Carbon lol... is it supposed to sit above the Carbon? I thought that was their flagship

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It is beautiful! They're the AMD equivalent of Carbon X1 Extreme(Intel only), the ones with discrete GPU. Was offered a real good deal, else would probably stay in the T series. The limited ports/ram/less than ideal touchpad are not doing it any favour, but I'm no Thinkpad purist(God bless the T480). God dang it, it's premium!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Really? The design is very different tho, bezel and chin are both smaller.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Oya, I meant that the Carbon is Intel's design only, the AMD equivalent is Z series. It's like those Zenbook Duo(dual screen, one on keyboard) is Intel only design.

Can't post a picture of skewered lambs without some vegans inviting themselves over with their preaching 🙄

White people are too free.

I invoked rule ~~3~~ 2, not 3.

My personal interpretation is in the lines of "don't get in an argument between a malaysian and their food."

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, which these preachy assholes don't understand. There's another on my thread 🙄

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I guess he did. Even reported my comment here for racism for using the term white people LOL

it's really funny when people don't realize the way reports go through in a decentralized, federated ecosystem. it doesn't go through a central place where one set of rules (usually anglo- or euro-centric) applies to all.

even funnier is when the posts being reported are from a single person instance – the reports go to the person being reported! 🤣

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, guess they still don't get lemmy yet.

even funnier is when the posts being reported are from a single person instance – the reports go to the person being reported! We investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong.

For god's sake. My friend/housemate. Good guy. Probably the first rich good person I'm close with But you can't lend anything to this guy. He just forgets about it and lost it . And now I have to live through the whole semester break without my powerbank.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yea I'm gonna ask him to replace it if he can't find it the next time we see each other

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Takpe, you jalan2 together, oh kebetulan lalu kedai IT, oh kebetulan u pun tanya, eh mana powerbank I? Oh, tak jumpa lagi? Nvm lah, can you pay for this powerbank first? Later you find back my old one, I give you this one.

/muka tembok strategy but dia yg buat2 tak tahu first

(You will discover pretty soon this is how rich and pretend-rich ppl score freebies)

And that's a valuable lesson that you're lucky to have encountered so early. These kind of rich ppl? They are also assholes. They're so cincai because they never have to worry, but also because they know, even if they can't articulate it, adat/politeness means ppl are unlikely to ever demand something like this, because malu/segan. Always ask back for what you're due - he's probably going to kutuk you (in that careless cincai rich guy way and he probably "didn't mean it that way") behind your back, but fuck that shit, and fuck that man.
