A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules may be more established as time goes on, but it's important to have a foundation to work on.

1. Follow the rules of Lemmy.world - These rules are the same as Mastodon.world's rules, which can be found here.

2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/[email protected])

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

[email protected]

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

Not subbed, but thanking the author and hoping all those posts go there, outside of my view.

AI itself is a power that can be used for good, yet people focus on the wrong enemy: we should target corporate cancer that permeates and warps not only AI, but other technologies as well.

Fuck ChatGPT, Bard, Gemini, all that shit - Embrace HuggingFace and things it offers, and pay visit to the AI Horde - thanks our beloved db0 for the reference!

Fuck companies that try to bake in their proprietary models into their operating systems, search engines, you name it, to lead people to adopt the wrong kind of technology - Embrace GPT4All and make it your choice to use open-source, controlled models on your machine.

By sharing general fears of AI as a technology, you play straight into the hands of the likes of Altman, who then turns those fears into reasons to make it a walled garden and shove even more of that shit down your throats.

We should not aim to fuck AI, we should aim for AI not being used as a weapon against us or pushed to where we don't want it to be. Strive for control over the technology that will undoubtedly change our futures.

We struggle with visibility sadly.

Don't we all, unfortunately?

That's super cool. Hopefully it becomes more mobile friendly

The GUI for Ichio I mean

It's open source and I'm not that good at frontends, so I'm hoping people will help improve it. But you can also try out artbot or horde NG

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Ooh, Horde NG is super cool.

Yes, I would like to if tech communities would establish a "No AI" rule, that stuff is flooding the feeds

Instantly joined it.

I actually like LLMs and diffusion models. But I'm not going to pretend that the fairly solid criticism, that makes people say "fuck AI!", is unfounded. Fuck the people developing AI, and marketing it, and shoving it down your throat even when you don't want it. And also some of the ones using it.

A new "fuckcars"-like community whose name doesn't even target the source of their frustration? Neat.

Gamedevs, researchers, and factory engineers sitting in a corner mumbling something about "appropriation".

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Microsoft's and OpenAI's hijacking of the term "AI" to mean "LLM", and those who just blindly follow along and thereby help alienating those who work with AI (not LLM), are a sickness.

Should it rather be "LLM enshittification"?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Enshittification-wise it is both, since the current main reason for AI enshittification is the LLM enshittification bleeding out. But focusing on AI as a whole for being the problem would not be unlike "fuckcars" being called "fucktransportation".

Sorry to ask this here, but I can't get a response in the kbin "help" magazine:

Can anyone on kbin.social answer: Why can't I access this or subscribe to this from within kbin.social? Is it blocked? I can get to other lemmy.world communities. This happens with many communities. kbin.social can't see them or retrieve even if I put in the direct url.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

I've heard of lemmy.world <--> kbin federation issues

Can someone create a community for funny AI Fails?!

The difference between this sub and the fuckgrandpajoe sub is that grandpa joe won't ever gain sentience.
