So I'm cleaning out a house and found a brand new Gateway2k Pentium 4 computer. Someone opened the boxes but never took the computer out, its all still in the plastic and I don't want to ruin the unboxing for someone that is into this. The computer is free to a good home in the Boston metro area to make your retro gaming dreams come true! Shoot me a message, first come, first served.

P4 Computer - Gateway 2000 model 510 - part number 2800434

17" TFT Monitor - Gateway FPD1730

Speakers - Boston Acoustics BA745

Edit: Found a taker, hopefully it goes to it's forever home on Saturday!

Edit edit: its gone!

Reach out to youtubers. Someone like LGR might find value in doing an unboxing of it. A video can educate tons of people on it.

Was gonna say... Reach out to Clint from LGR. He loves this new old stock stuff and always finds something interesting to do with it.

They might want to wait until winter to un box it, when that P4 can double as a space heater.

You want a space heater try an AMD K6-2, First pc I ever had to get an aftermarket heat-sink for cause it would shut down in the summer for overheating. Normal operating temp was like 80C

Don't toss the Technics reciever either.

Want to come get it? There is no market for this stuff and I'm on a time crunch. I need this stuff out fast. There are a bunch of speakers and decks.

I'm not there. You might try a forum like Audiokarma.

Wow that’s a brand I’ve not heard of in a long time. Can remember when ours first arrived as a kid, I think maybe as an upgrade from an old Amiga.

I got my first Gateway 2k Pentium pro in 1996 and upgraded from an Amiga 500 too! Wish I kept that computer but I did keep the CPU as a keepsake.

Hah, I remember the Gateway box being so large I could get in it at the time. And being cow themed seemed quite odd, but that thing was a beast at the time. I do miss the old Amiga though too.

Thanks for the little nostalgia trip! Well done on keeping some mementos. Hope the Gateway finds a good home to go to!

Pentium 4 those were the days, super fast CPU, that was 5 years ago right...

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

You can tell it's legit by the cow.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Damn. That's a magnificent haul for whomever gets it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

I guess I'll just have to take it! You'll cover postage to Australia right? Lmao.

Seriously though, that's very cool. The YouTube channel LazyGameReviews would probably be interested if you want someone easy to reach out to.

Well damn.... If I wasn't 3000 miles away, I'd say I want it! Lol. Thing's a beaut!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

I threw enough of those away at my first sysadmin job. I never want to see another one! lol

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago
