Let's just create something less toxic than r/gunners

I was going to tell you to fuck off in true Reddit style but that doesn't feel very Lemmy. Have a great Saturday my guy.
Right back at ya! Here's hoping for a Tottenham implosion next season
I looked at r/gunners for the first time since the blackout. The level of apathy/lack of understanding/refusal (IMO) to appreciate the bigger picture that certain redditors have is perhaps predictable but disappointing.
It's not not only r/gunners. There multiple subreddits that I follow where the whole situation has been missunderstood and categorised as the uprising of a mere few (mainly users of 3rd party apps).
I don't think there will be a mass exodus from Reddit as many predict.
I think it's because people try to use Lemmy and find it "too complicated". If apps were like Sync and Apollo, and there was one place to easily look up communities, they would come but in the end, people are lazy and want it easy.
True. Even I find myself going back to Reddit (using the crappy android app) every now and then. Granted not as much as I use to when I was using Sync for Reddit.
Woke up to the 429 rate limit of death, honestly as long as we have the match threads and the big news drops that's more than enough, we don't need their content
Idk some memes would be nice and they're starting to trickle in
Right now, we're just not the most active community. Let's see how it is from tomorrow. But we will never be huge until we put in the effort.
That's not a bad thing IMO. I like the idea of this community being just a few hundreds of thousands of people. Yeah, we won't get as many posts. But hopefully we can avoid some of the toxicity of the other place, and focus on quality over quantity.
And if even just a handful of us can pop a couple of good quality links a couple of times a day on this community, it will be enough. And like you say, that will encourage others to join in too.
Do we really need everything that's on r/gunners, though? From the image, the Mari story was also here and the two Timber stories are really "nothing has changed" stories. The only one that seems like it would improve this community was the preseason schedule. We could definitely do better, but I don't think this needs to literally be a copy of r/gunners.
The Timber story about him back at training was also here as well.
I agree with this sentiment, so much stuff posted on there is just recycled information from different twitter accounts with nothing really of substance.
I definitely don't think we need every post to r/gunners posted here. Especially during silly season I personally found it real hard to follow all the rumors being posted by random people. I think we will need people to post highlights, discussions, team news, and stuff like that, but I'm perfectly ok with a smaller active user base
I would love to post tweets etc. if I wasn’t rate limited on Twitter as well 😅. Not sure if we need to clone posts one by one but I will definitely be more active on Lemmy with posting than on Reddit.
