Not the reply you're looking for OP, but I never saw the appeal or Charli XCX. Nothing I ever heard sounded even half as good or original as her fans seem to pass it off as.

No problem, your opinion is valid! Do you like other hyperpop or experimental pop artists?

Yes, I like both and I don't consider Charli good at either. Very much feels like "how do you do fellow kids" when such a major-label supported artist is copying underground sounds.

What are some artists in that vein that you do enjoy?

Snow Strippers and Dorian Electra are some of the better hyperpop acts to come out in the past few years. 100 Gecs should be a given, but only their first two projects, I didn't care much for 10,000 Gecs. For more mainstream artists/sounds, M.I.A.'s third album MAYA and Emo-tion by Carly Rae Jepsen are two great 2010s alternative hip-pop albums.

ETA: I recently rediscovered Time 'N Place by Kero Kero Bonito and I genuinely consider it to be the best alternative pop album of the decade so far. I'd definitely recommend it

Not a huge charli fan or even hyperpop/club music fan, but I've been enjoying Brat. Just feels like club music that isn't horribly derivative and boring. The production is good and the lyrics are actually somewhat interesting and meaningful.

Do you have an album you would recommend as better than Brat that's trying to achieve the same thing?

Made a longer reply to the comment above. MAYA by M.I.A. or Emo-tion by Carly Rae Jepsen are two electropop/hip-pop albums I'd listen to before brat
