The bubble finally burst. Majorities in France, Italy, Greece, Brazil, Mexico, Israel, Turkey, Colombia, Malaysia, etc. or large minorities in US, Canada, Germany, Poland, Spain, etc. express no or not much confidence in Zelensky.

In several European countries, people who have favorable views of right-wing populist parties are less likely to have a positive view of Zelenskyy. In Germany, for example, supporters of Alternative for Germany (AfD) are about half as likely as those who do not support AfD to express confidence in the Ukrainian leader (31% vs. 61%). In some cases, the pattern is reversed: Spanish supporters of the right-wing populist party Vox are more confident in Zelenskyy than nonsupporters

Gee, I wonder why.

Yeah, I wonder why parties that have been against the war from the start are rapidly growing in popularity across Europe as it becomes clear that the war is a debacle that's now collapsing European standard of living.

Could it be that AfD and BSW are blatant puppets of Putin? Nah... can't be that.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago

This would imply that Putin is a puppet-mastering Übermensch. I guess Russiagate is a transatlantic conspiracy theory.

[-] [email protected] -2 points 2 days ago

Atleast Petr Bystron and Maxillian Krah got donations from russia. And there are several news outlets who say that there are indeed several MEPs that were influenced by Russia as well.

So I don't think so that its just a transatlantic conspiracy.

Imagine genuinely believing that Russia has more influence over Europe than the US. 🤣

[-] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago

That's not what I said at all?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

If you understood that US has more political influence over Europe than Russia then you'd also understand why your conspiracy theory is nonsensical.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

I simply stated, that there are atleast two known AfD politicans who took donations from russia, and that there are several MEPs who are influenced by Russia. I have NEVER stated that the USA had more political influence over Europe than Russia, nor did I EVER stated that those known politicans were influenced more by the USA.

You are spinning my comments into a conspiracy theory.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Again, it's pretty clear what your statement is trying to say, and it's absolutely hilarious how you're trying to spin it into something else now.

[-] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago

Whatever you want to believe.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Sounds like you are happy about that.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

I am happy that the support for the proxy war is finally crumbling in the west which means the war will finally end and people will stop dying. Only a complete psychopath would not be happy about that.

[-] [email protected] -2 points 1 day ago

Only a psycho and friend of Putin would be happy that Ukraine is going to be crushed. A sovereign stat that was recognised by Russia. This defeat will cost Ukraine so much more than Territory.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Why crushed? The end of EVERY was has been "seat and talk" except for total wars. Are you suggesting this one has to be a total war (a.k.a. total annihilation)?

What Zelenki AND Putin have to do is talk. Either that or fight until all Ukrainians or Russians are dead.

[-] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Sure Selenskyj and Putin need to talk but it's either Putin demanding even more territories to surrender (14.06) or refuses to meet Selenskyj at all.

And who can say that Putin will stop annexing more land when his annexation of Crimea in 2014 didn't prevent this latest invasion war?

A white peace would be great but I doubt Putin would accept that.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

A white peace would be great but I doubt Putin would accept that.

How to say you've been guzzling war propaganda for the past two years without saying it.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Even if they disagree 100%, the only solution is talking. The other "solution" is total war.

And if they talk MAYBE they can arrange a deal to cease fire. Not peace. Not winning the war. Just cease fire and talk.

Anybody with a functioning brain understood that Ukraine could never win a war against Russia. As Obama openly said back in 2016:

Obama declares Ukraine to be not a core American interest and that he is reluctant to intervene in the country, because Russia will always be able to maintain escalatory dominance there. “The fact is that Ukraine, which is a non-NATO country, is going to be vulnerable to military domination by Russia no matter what we do.”

Yet, western powers convinced Ukraine to fight Russia anyways because as RAND explained back in 2019, using Ukraine as a proxy was seen as a way to weaken Russia.

The reason the war started has also been publicly acknowledged by the head of NATO

The background was that President Putin declared in the autumn of 2021, and actually sent a draft treaty that they wanted NATO to sign, to promise no more NATO enlargement. That was what he sent us. And was a pre-condition for not invade Ukraine. Of course we didn't sign that.

The opposite happened. He wanted us to sign that promise, never to enlarge NATO. He wanted us to remove our military infrastructure in all Allies that have joined NATO since 1997, meaning half of NATO, all the Central and Eastern Europe, we should remove NATO from that part of our Alliance, introducing some kind of B, or second class membership. We rejected that.

So he went to war to prevent NATO, more NATO, close to his borders.

Now, after two years of the west prolonging the war, the only possible outcome is becoming clear even to dimwitted western public.

So what should Ukraine do? Just give up their independence and become yet again a vassal to Putin?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

That is literally the only possible out come of this war. How many more people have to die and how much more Ukraine has to be destroyed so people like you can finally understand this fact?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

How is it up to us to decide what Ukranian Government should do? Should we not stick to their decision in whatever capacity we can? And if they want to fight for their freedom and sovereignty, then we should provide them with whatever resources we can give.

The government in Ukraine very clearly does not represent the interests of the people living in the country. It banned all opposition along with free media, and cancelled elections. It's a western backed dictatorship that's literally kidnapping people off the street to throw them into the war. This is what people like you stand for https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/15/world/europe/ukraine-military-recruitment.html
