Hey,

I've found out about Minetest yesterday and I really like it. I wanted to get more familiar with the game, so I thought that making a survival world would be a good learning experience. I have made a few worlds in the Minetest Game, but I noticed that it's a clean sheet for mods. So if I wanted a classic survival experience like in Minecraft, what would be better, a modded Minetest Game or VoxeLibre?

Thanks in advance!

VoxeLibre is designed to be very similar to Minecraft without needing to tinker with mods or settings so I would definitely suggest starting there

That said we've ran several different Minetest worlds and our other favorite was Asuna with additional mods

VoxeLibre just got done renaming from "MineClone 2", because that was its focus so far, to clone Minecraft.

The name change does mean they want to take more liberties and I also expect the next few updates to bring in some larger changes that the team has wanted to make for a while.
But overall definitely still a good address, if you just want a Minecraft-like experience.

For a classic survival experience like Minecraft, VoxeLibre is the right call. Modded games are more like a pick and mix gaming experience rather than a curated one.

Only true way to know, give it a try and see.
