This is a place to post limited-time giveaways of full video games that are then yours to keep forever at no cost (i.e. this is not for steam sales, free-to-play games, free weekends, competition giveaways, or free in-game items!)

Please don't repost stuff that's already been posted or stuff that breaks feddit.uk rules (i.e. don't be a dick!)

5 budget indie horrors for Android, pay-what-you-want on itch.io until 14th July. They're download-only (as in you can't claim them to your account) and definitely look a bit basic, but if that's your cup of tea then knock yourself out!

As a person not into horror but into free games, I wonder why so many indie horror itch games make it here. Do they just go free more often than other genres? Am I just noticing them more often than any other type of post because the thumbnail is often something I actively find unpleasant instead of something neutral I can scroll and ignore?

Not a criticism of anyone posting them, they absolutely should be posted here.

My observations make me think that there are just a relatively high number of indie horror games compared to other genres of indies. I reckon it's because they're probably easier to make - you can focus on just building a world and putting in a few scary things rather than worrying about gameplay and complex mechanics if you're not interested in spending your time designing and developing those things. Also I imagine there's an audience for people who like horror who otherwise don't care that much about video games.
